ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A St. Louis County police sergeant is accused of stealing more than $1,000 by falsely claiming he worked on two holidays.

David Ryan, 51, of South County, is charged with stealing $750 or more.

Police say part of Ryan’s job included supervising security guards and officers at the St. Louis County Courthouse and Justice Center. Authorities allege that Ryan falsely claimed he worked a combined 18.2 hours on Thanksgiving Day, 2023 and New Year’s Day, 2024.

Ryan was actually in Branson on Thanksgiving and was elsewhere in the St. Louis area for most of New New Year’s Day. St. Louis County police say their officers receive double time for working on holidays.

Ryan is accused of being paid $1,716.26 for work he did not do. He has been suspended without pay.
