For the first time in 19 years, there will be a home playoff football game here in St. Louis. The Battlehawks will face off against the San Antonio Brahmas Sunday, June 9, for the second week in a row for the XFL Conference Championship.

Last week was a challenge, beating the Brahmas 13-12 at the America Center, and securing first place in the XFL Conference. The Battlehawks are 2-0 against the San Antonio this season, and 3-0 overall.

Within three minutes left in the fourth quarter, kicker Andre Szmyt made a 38-yard field goal to extend the lead 13-6. San Antonio threw a 37-yard touchdown to close the gap to one point. They attempted a two-point conversion that was overturned due to the Battlehawks challenging a penalty for an illegal man down field.

With 12 seconds left in the game, the Brahmas attempted to kick a 51-yard field goal to win the game, but All-UFL receiver Hakeem Butler rushed ed the line and tipped the kick to end the game.

The Battlehawks have been dominate on offense, averaging 26 points per game. They have scored a conference-high of 30 touchdowns and made a league-high 19 out of 21 field goal attempts. Six players have earned All-UFL honors, including Butler who had 652 receiving yards and five touchdowns, and running Back Jacob Saylors who had 461 yards and eight touchdowns.

The last time a playoff football game was played in St. Louis was in January 2004, when the St. Louis Rams hosted the North Carolina Panthers in the Divisional round. Obviously, the Rams lost 29-23, and have never hosted a playoff game until now.

The game will start at 6 p.m. at The Dome at America Center.
