DUPO, Ill. (First Alert 4) - Nearly 700 local families are set to have an unforgettable Christmas thanks to the non-profit, Moms on a Mission.

Moms on a Mission held its annual toy drive this weekend, giving each child three gifts and two stocking stuffers.

Dawn Putnam, the founder of Moms on a Mission said she knows personally how rough life can be.

“We just want to make sure everybody has the opportunity to enjoy the holidays and not like stress and worry because I know that worry and it’s awful,” she said.”

On Saturday, volunteers helped parents or guardians pick out the perfect gifts for their children.

Putnam said the organization was able to collect thousands of items for this toy drive.

“It is all because of the community who came to us in need and the community who answered that need,” she said.

This is just one example of what Moms on a Mission does for the community. Putnam said they are always holding events, ing the homeless or just simply helping someone who is down on their luck.
