Preps underway as runners ready to hit the pavement for Greater St. Louis Marathon
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Thousands of people are expected to fill the streets downtown on Saturday as runners take to the streets for the annual Greater St. Louis Marathon.
Throughout the night and into the early house, the street department will be closing roadways and preparing for the run, which is set to kick off around 7 a.m. on Market Street at near Memorial Plaza and the Stifel Theater.
Runners have 6.5 hours to complete the course, which winds through several downtown and city streets.
According to race organizer GO!St. Louis, the following roadways will be affected, including some interstate exits near downtown. The organization offers an interactive map of the course and other information on its website.
Interstate Exits
- I-44 WB, 290A at Tucker/Gravois – 6 am – 10:00am
- I-44 EB, 292 at Washington/Eads Bridge – 6:00am – 11:00am
- I-44 WB, 292A at Lumiere Place Blvd/MLK Bridge (partial closure) – 6:00am – 11:00am
- I-44 EB, 291B at Poplar St/Walnut St – 6:00am – 9:00am
- I-64 WB, 40B no Walnut access, interstate access remains open – 6:00am – 9:00am
- I-64 WB on ramp at Broadway – 6:00am – 7:30am
