ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (First Alert 4) - St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Melissa Price Smith is reflecting on her first 100 days in office.

“I have a great team around me and believe we are making real progress in making St. Louis County safer,” said Price Smith. “I look forward to continue building on the progress we have made over the past 100 days.”

Price Smith became the first woman to serve as St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney when she was sworn in on Jan. 3. Since then, she has reinstated the Violent Crime Unit, reduced incarceration for low-level offenders and reduced a backlog of cases.

According to Price Smith’s office, she is working on ways to collaborate with the community to reduce crime, hold violent offenders able and give victims a voice.

Price Smith also reportedly saved taxpayers $18,000 a year by deactivating 45 missing telecommunications devices.
