Today: Clouds gradually lower and thicken with a slight chance of rain. Showers will be fighting dry air as they push in from the west and south, so we expect rain to be fairly isolated today. Still, some rain could sneak into the metro during the afternoon. A rumble of thunder or two is possible. Count on another warm afternoon with highs in the 80s.

Friday & This Weekend: Rain and storm chances are highest on Friday, but lower chances linger into the weekend. This rain will be tied to an upper-level weather disturbance rather than a strong front at the surface. Typically, these kinds of systems pose a lower threat of severe thunderstorms, but they can drop locally heavy downpours and produce some brief wind gusts. We certainly don’t expect washout weather as we head into the weekend, but we want you to be prepared for a ing shower or storm. Meanwhile, humidity will be more noticeable as moisture in the atmosphere increases.
